Gathering Of Leaders 2012

Since 2005, New Profit Inc.'s Gathering of Leaders has brought together social entrepreneurs and other innovators to "catalyze the development of new ideas, relationships, and resources that can help scale social innovation and transform public problem solving." (learn more at New Profit Inc.) Julie has been lucky to have worked on the design for every Gathering of Leaders event... eight years now and counting! Each year has a different theme and fresh visual brand.

The 2012 event materials were designed feel down-to-earth, gritty, and authentic. We utilized organic shapes, evocative photographs, and inspirational quotes from leaders and innovators to set the tone.

We enjoy developing a visual identity for each Gathering of Leaders, making each year new and special and tying together, through design, the many pieces involved in planning and executing this large event: from save the dates and invitations to table centerpieces and podium signs to post-event video graphics and thank you notes. As a major event, each Gathering requires a high level of art direction and we weigh in on all the details, even helping at the event to put the finishing touches on the various elements of this branded event. This year Jenny attended while Julie was back in Newton feeling very pregnant.

We also had the wonderful opportunity to work with Steve Liss, Director of American Poverty, to curate and art direct a gallery show that featured incredible photography, by Steve and other photographers, intended to raise awareness and challenge stereotypes about America’s poor.

The program book includes a profile for each attendee, information about the event, a place to take notes. Each attendee receives a name tag that doubles as a wearable guide to the event with a floorplan of the venue, contact information for the event organizers, and meal tickets.

Each year we get to work with a truly incredible, talented team! This year the team included New Profit staff, Brian Rillahan for AV work, Shannon Finney for photography, Alphagraphics Boston for printing, and many other talented professionals.
